Educational Assessment Specialist and Special Education Consultant

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess at least a Master's degree in Psychometry alongside a Bachelor's degree in Education.


Understanding of child development principles; foundational theories of assessment and measurement; and familiarity with community resources and services available for student support.

Capability to perform thorough psychoeducational assessments of students; to effectively communicate and collaborate with parents, educational staff, and the community; to articulate evaluation results in comprehensive reports and correspondence; to assist students, families, and educational personnel in addressing challenges related to learning, behavior, and mental well-being; and to engage successfully with parents, educators, and administrators.

Proficiency in effective communication, both written and verbal.

Ability to apply and interpret federal, state, and local regulations and policies governing educational services for students with disabilities.

Awareness of legislation and regulations pertaining to education and services for individuals with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Selecting, administering, scoring, and interpreting assessments of cognitive abilities, academic performance, and personality traits for referred students.
  • Analyzing assessment data to formulate hypotheses and conclusions regarding learning and behavioral challenges.
  • Creating tailored interventions and strategies to support individual students in their academic progress and school integration.
  • Conducting both informal and formal observations of students as part of the assessment process.
  • Participating as a member of educational planning teams to develop support plans for at-risk students.
  • Reviewing student records and evaluating information relevant to learning and adjustment needs.
  • Determining eligibility for programs and services for students with disabilities based on assessment results.
  • Communicating assessment findings to parents, educators, and other stakeholders through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Presenting assessment results in exceptional student education meetings to determine eligibility and placement.
  • Engaging in the periodic re-evaluation of students with disabilities enrolled in exceptional student education programs.
  • Utilizing knowledge of behavioral principles to design and assist in implementing specific behavioral management strategies for individual students, classrooms, and schools.
  • Providing training and support in intervention techniques and strategies aimed at enhancing student success within the educational environment.
  • Serving as an expert witness in due process hearings related to students with disabilities.
  • Interpreting state and federal regulations, laws, and policies concerning identification, placement, and service provision for students with disabilities or gifted abilities, while maintaining current knowledge of these matters.
  • Performing additional tasks consistent with the objectives and goals of this role.

Physical Requirements:

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as necessary to move objects.
