Position Overview:
U-Haul International Inc. is in search of a skilled Construction Project Specialist to oversee new multi-story self-storage developments and building renovations. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to formulate construction budgets, assist in cost estimation, and manage project timelines effectively. This role involves collaborating with the project owner's representative to address Requests for Information (RFIs) with contractors, architects, and engineers. Familiarity with various construction methods such as cast-in-place concrete, tilt-up panel construction, metal framing, standing seam metal roofing, and pre-engineered metal structures is essential.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders including owners' representatives, contractors, architects, engineers, and municipal officials.
  • Manage project tracking, scheduling, on-site inspections, and project completion processes.
  • Utilize Microsoft software including Teams, Project, and Excel for project management.
  • Travel as necessary for project oversight.
  • Provide regular updates on job status, daily progress, estimates, and material deliveries.
  • Assist in drafting construction contracts, evaluating project bids, and identifying potential risks.
  • Ensure that construction quality meets or exceeds company standards and industry best practices.
  • Conduct daily project reviews to maintain quality construction standards.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management.
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent resource management, planning, and time management skills.
  • Possess strong project and time management capabilities.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in construction.
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Experience in roles such as Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, or any construction trade leadership position is advantageous.
  • Strong personnel management and delegation skills.
  • Proficient in project and time management.
