Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is accountable for the comprehensive upkeep and repair of machinery, tools, and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, adjust, and repair production machinery, heavy vehicles, and specialized equipment as required.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools to perform repairs, lubrication, welding, cutting, and part replacements.
  • Execute welding tasks and operate cutting torches as necessary.
  • Conduct general repairs on facility structures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, determine necessary repairs, and consult with the Head Mechanic for approval.
  • Replace defective components, including electrical wiring, motors, controls, and circuit boards.
  • Install machinery and electrical systems, ensuring they function correctly.
  • Dismantle equipment to access and remove faulty parts using hoists, cranes, and hand tools.
  • Lubricate and clean machinery components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform additional duties related to the role as assigned on a temporary or permanent basis.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are essential:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant training and experience.
  • Technical or vocational certification in a related field.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting operational manuals and following detailed instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skill set.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, carpentry, or related disciplines is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift tools and machinery components weighing up to 80 lbs, with assistance available when necessary.
  • Capability to perform intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods.
  • Able to work in challenging conditions, including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt.
