Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the comprehensive upkeep and repair of machinery, tools, and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, adjust, and repair production machinery, heavy vehicles, and specialized equipment as required.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools for tasks including repair, lubrication, welding, and part replacement.
  • Perform welding and cutting operations as necessary.
  • Conduct general repairs on facility structures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, discussing necessary repairs with the Head Mechanic.
  • Replace defective components, including electrical parts, motors, and circuit boards.
  • Install and test equipment and electrical systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Dismantle machinery to access and remove faulty parts using hoists and tools.
  • Lubricate and clean machinery to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant training and experience.
  • Certification from a technical or vocational school is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and skills are essential.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge in hydraulics, mechanics, electricity, or carpentry is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift tools and machinery components weighing up to 80 lbs, with assistance available if needed.
  • Capability to perform tasks involving bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods.
  • Able to work in varying environmental conditions, including temperature extremes and exposure to noise and dust.
