Job Overview

The Fleet Mechanic position encompasses essential hands-on tasks related to the repair and preventive upkeep of all company vehicles and machinery. Responsibilities include inspecting and servicing vehicles and equipment, performing performance evaluations, diagnosing problems, and replacing components as required. With demonstrated administrative capabilities, the mechanic may advance to a supervisory position, managing staff and adhering to company protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and servicing on a variety of landscape power tools, commercial mowers, 2-cycle machinery, utility vehicles, trucks, and trailers in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment.
  • Schedule maintenance services and ensure all vehicles and equipment operate at peak efficiency.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as blade sharpening, equipment lubrication, and oil changes across all equipment types.
  • Carry out comprehensive inspections on trucks, trailers, and lawn care equipment to proactively identify and resolve potential safety concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to effectively address any issues.
  • Occasionally travel to various company sites, which may require overnight stays for larger assignments.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned, which may necessitate extended working hours.
  • The workshop is well-equipped with standard tools and covers an area of 6,000 square feet.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of five years of experience in commercial repair of mowers, small engines, 2-cycle machinery, and light trucks.
  • Possession of necessary tools stored in a secure toolbox for job functions.
  • Physical capability to reach overhead, work in various positions, and lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Advanced knowledge in automotive repairs.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication abilities.
  • Proficient in organizational tasks such as workshop upkeep, inventory control, and a proactive maintenance approach.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.

A valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
