Position Overview
The Electrical Control Systems Engineer will be tasked with the design and development of machine control systems for cutting-edge automated material handling equipment. This role encompasses the creation of concepts, algorithms, and schematics for material handling machinery. The engineer will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mechanical and electrical engineers to design and develop comprehensive mechatronic prototypes and systems. This position requires expertise in control system architecture, network design, electrical design, and power distribution. The engineer will also be responsible for programming machine control code (PLC, IPC) and producing electrical schematics. Participation in the New Product Development process is essential, including defining requirements, drafting specifications, and developing engineering estimates and documentation to support risk analysis, testing reports, equipment certifications, commissioning procedures, troubleshooting, and training. The engineer will assist production and deployment teams to ensure a seamless transition of new products from prototype to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Exemplify leadership in alignment with Aegis' Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Investigate and assess new electrical control technologies and devices.
- Specify electrical hardware and control devices based on application needs, including PLC components, servo and VFD controllers, and field IO devices.
- Familiarity with distributed control solutions utilizing established IO networks such as Ethernet IP, ProfiNet, Sercos, and IO link is essential.
- Lead the design of comprehensive control solutions for complex automated systems.
- Utilize kinematic equations of motion to formulate material handling algorithms and timing parameters for controls.
- Develop and implement machine control software using platforms such as Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens, or others.
- Design electrical control panels for R&D projects utilizing AutoCAD Electrical.
- Create detailed documentation for the transition of R&D products to production and deployment teams.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of customer operations and specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with R&D team members to achieve project objectives.
- Demonstrate initiative and capability to design and develop next-generation products with minimal supervision.
- Comprehend complex systems and processes at a high level of detail.
- Work efficiently under deadlines while ensuring accuracy and adherence to budget and schedule.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers through instruction and role modeling.
- Willingness to travel as required (less than 25%).

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial automation.
- Expertise in Rockwell, Schneider, or Siemens industrial control products.
- Experience troubleshooting 460 VAC and 24 VDC control systems using tools such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with LEAN and/or AGILE methodologies is advantageous.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
