Role Summary for Registered Nurse - Hospice:

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers essential nursing care to patients in hospice, providing support to families during challenging times and collaborating with the hospice team to ensure quality care.

Qualifications for Registered Nurse - Hospice:

  • Prior hospice experience is mandatory.
  • Must hold a valid nursing license in the state of practice.
  • A minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with hospice preferred.
  • Active patient interaction within the last three years is preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions swiftly.
  • Capability to respond effectively to emergencies outside of a hospital environment.
  • Open-mindedness towards diverse social, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Hospice:

  • Conduct regular assessments of patient needs.
  • Provide dietary guidance as necessary.
  • Administer hospice nursing services, treatments, and preventive care.
  • Initiate appropriate nursing procedures for patient safety and comfort.
  • Monitor and report any significant changes in the patient's condition to the healthcare team.
  • Educate and support patients and their families in care practices.
  • Oversee and mentor other nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and adjust care plans.
  • Perform specific nursing tasks as directed by physician orders.
  • Participate in team meetings and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Adhere to hospice policies and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding any unmet patient needs.
  • Engage in on-call duties as required.
