Role Summary for Registered Nurse - Hospice Care:

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers compassionate nursing care to patients facing terminal illnesses, providing support to families during home care and bereavement. Collaborating with the hospice team, the RN plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive hospice services.

Qualifications for Registered Nurse - Hospice Care:

  • Essential: Prior Hospice Experience Required
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in hospice.
  • Active patient interaction within the last three years is preferred.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make timely, accurate decisions.
  • Capability to respond effectively to crises outside of a hospital environment.
  • Acceptance and adaptability to diverse social, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Responsibilities for Registered Nurse - Hospice Care:

  • Conduct regular assessments of hospice patients' nursing needs.
  • Provide dietary guidance as necessary.
  • Administer hospice nursing services, treatments, and preventive care.
  • Initiate nursing procedures tailored to the patient's hospice care and safety.
  • Monitor and report any unexpected changes in the patient's condition to the physician and interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate and support the hospice patient and their family in care provision.
  • Oversee and mentor other nursing personnel.
  • Develop and continuously evaluate the patient/family care plan in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Perform specific nursing tasks as required, following physician's orders.
  • Participate in team meetings and maintain required documentation.
  • Adhere to hospice policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding any unmet patient needs or procedural challenges.
  • Engage in on-call responsibilities as needed.
