Job Overview

The Multicraft Maintenance Technician is tasked with the upkeep and repair of all equipment within the production facility. This role is crucial in addressing equipment failures promptly and ensuring machinery is repaired efficiently, while also undertaking both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as required. The technician will also mentor and provide guidance to junior staff, including Mechanic I and Mechanic II level employees; uphold a safe and organized work environment by adhering to established procedures, regulations, and safety protocols; optimize maintenance resources by judiciously utilizing tools and supplies to achieve operational goals; and manage inventory levels of equipment, parts, and supplies by monitoring stock and anticipating future needs. Additionally, this position involves implementing design enhancements and process modifications to boost overall production efficiency, as well as programming electrical and electronic systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure machinery and mechanical systems operate smoothly by completing preventive maintenance tasks on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production equipment; adhering to diagrams, manuals, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Identify the root causes of mechanical issues by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and utilizing precision measuring tools.
  • Maintain communication and continuity among work teams by documenting actions, reporting irregularities, and addressing ongoing needs; developing job aids and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee and maintain multiple equipment pieces by completing assigned preventive maintenance tasks, executing corrective maintenance work orders, and accurately documenting all maintenance activities.
  • Minimize downtime by educating production staff on routine maintenance practices, monitoring adherence, and providing assistance to maintain optimal production efficiency.
  • Implement modifications and programming changes to electronic and electrical systems to enhance overall production.
  • Provide training to plant personnel on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures or instructions.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Competence in monitoring and adjusting equipment parameters.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
  • Skilled in making mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic adjustments.
  • Preferred experience in reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to understand complex processing equipment.
  • Proactive in pursuing technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent technical education.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical degree or extensive experience in a related field.
