Key Responsibilities
The Safety Liaison Officer serves as a pivotal first point of contact for patients and visitors upon their arrival, playing an essential role in facilitating their experience at our facility.
The individual in this position will exemplify professionalism, effective communication, and active listening skills, demonstrating empathy and the ability to engage positively with patients, visitors, family members, staff, and other individuals at Mayo Clinic. Maintaining a courteous, respectful, and helpful demeanor is crucial while assisting and interacting with patients and visitors. Responsibilities include:
- Verifying patient appointments and collaborating with colleagues to gather appointment details.
- Understanding and enforcing institutional visitor policies, following established screening protocols.
- Monitoring entrance utilization and related policies, such as masking and identification verification.
- Greeting patients and visitors and assisting them with navigation throughout the facility.
The Safety Liaison Officer primarily operates at designated patient buildings and entrances to ensure policy compliance and manage patient and visitor flow. Additional responsibilities involve remaining calm and composed in high-pressure situations and effectively de-escalating conflicts or stressful encounters through training in conflict resolution techniques. This role may involve interaction with security technologies, including weapons detection systems, and will require flexible working hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of two years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality, or a related service industry.
Additional Qualifications
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills are essential. Experience in conflict management and resolution is preferred, along with the ability to complete training in conflict resolution techniques. Familiarity with software programs and security-related equipment is also necessary.
Licensure or Certification
Completion of training in conflict resolution techniques is required within six months of hire.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive hourly wage and is eligible for comprehensive benefits.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with rotating 12-hour shifts.
