The Security Officer - Patient Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors within the hospital facilities. This role involves responding to calls for assistance, patrolling the premises, and monitoring security alarms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Protect patients, staff, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner.
  • Patrol the hospital facilities and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitoring security alarms and dispatching officers as needed.
  • Report any unsafe acts or conditions, investigate security breaches, conduct follow-up investigations, and write incident reports.
  • Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events and complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner.
  • Use appropriate emergency and radio codes to dispatch security officers and ensure they are sent to the correct location.

Requirements

  • At least six months of experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, or prior law enforcement or military service.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or three years of experience as a security officer.
  • Ability to speak English, communicate clearly orally and in writing, and understand and use de-escalation techniques.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Preferred, International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer within 90 days.
