Job Summary

The Ground Support Equipment Technician is accountable for the servicing and upkeep of all Ground Service Equipment at a designated location, ensuring that Swissport Ramp and other service entities operate safely with dependable equipment that complies with all local and regulatory standards.
The anticipated compensation is $ /hr.

Your Responsibilities

  • Operate and maneuver all types of GSE, both motorized and non-motorized.
  • Conduct and demonstrate proficiency in preventive maintenance according to established schedules for all ground support equipment.
  • Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic evaluations of ground support equipment as necessary.
  • Basic hydraulic knowledge is required; willingness to learn about hydraulic systems is essential.
  • Airport de-icing training will be mandatory, with readiness to work during adverse weather conditions such as snow and ice.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Remove defective ground support equipment from service and ensure it is not returned until the issue has been thoroughly diagnosed and rectified.
  • Respond to emergency service requests and incidents involving ground support equipment.
  • Complete all maintenance and repair documentation in accordance with carrier, station, airport authority, municipal, state, federal, and Swissport requirements.
  • Adhere to all federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority, and carrier security protocols.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license for both airside and non-airside operations in good standing at all times.
  • Follow all safety protocols established by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and Swissport management.
  • Keep the GSE workshop and its equipment clean and operational, reporting any deficiencies to management.
  • Refuel equipment as necessary, with full consideration for safety and environmental regulations.
  • Engage professionally with Ramp management, customers, and staff as needed.
  • Work independently and report to shop leads on a daily basis.

Your Profile

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Open availability and flexible scheduling.
  • Preferred background in trade school training or mechanical experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Willingness to maintain a clean and safe workshop environment.
  • Willingness to travel when necessary for training or to assist other Swissport locations with GSE requirements.
