Position Summary

E-3 is on the lookout for driven and enthusiastic Telecommunications Equipment Technicians at various levels (1-4). Your main duties will involve the upkeep of diverse electrical and optical systems within telecommunications facilities, alongside the installation and replacement of such equipment. As a Telecommunications Technician, you will contribute to significant work alongside skilled colleagues, enhancing connectivity for individuals, businesses, and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct power transition tasks
  • Manage the addition or removal of batteries
  • Facilitate the addition or removal of circuits on operational power distribution sources
  • Perform equipment testing and activation
  • Supervise high-risk work activities
  • Oversee subcontractor operations on-site
  • Implement changes to Power Boards
  • Modify Engine Generator setups
  • Handle common systems equipment/hardware adjustments
  • Manage wiring and connection modifications (limited to non-operational equipment)
  • Lead project initiatives with support from junior technicians
  • Safely operate company-owned and rented vehicles/trailers
  • Conduct Fiber Optic Characterization and Testing/Activation
  • Perform lead verification and audits
  • Analyze job specifications and technical drawings
  • Assign tasks to team members
  • Resolve issues related to job specifications and drawings
  • Update office record drawings
  • Conduct in-process and final quality inspections
  • Maintain effective communication with clients throughout project duration

Work Environment:

  • Potentially work in raised floor environments
  • May involve working in confined spaces or shafts
  • Possible tasks in facility manholes
  • Occasional hand digging or trenching outdoors
  • Work may be required on rooftops
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all on-site storage and work areas

Qualifications and Skills

  • Willingness to travel extensively (100%)
  • Experience in a Central Office or Data Center setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
  • Demonstrate safe driving practices
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive work ethic
  • Excellent time management and documentation abilities
  • Familiarity with operating a Brady Labeler
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment under direct supervision
  • Capacity to work long hours and adapt to varying schedules
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 80 pounds
  • Safe ladder climbing skills while carrying tools and materials
  • Hand strength and dexterity for using industry-specific tools
  • Able to accurately distinguish colors and fine print
