Job Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Services Representative to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the clinic appointment line, scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, and correction systems.
  • Answer multiline telephones and provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Process payments from clients for clinical services and complete client registration and documentation.
  • Schedule interpreters for clients and retrieve billing charges.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two years of work experience in a medical office, call center, or customer service business environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Extensive experience with computers and technology, including Windows, Excel, and Intranet/Internet navigation tools.
  • Strong verbal, written, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner while interacting with customers, physicians, and departmental partners.
  • Typing speed of 25cwpm and computer experience required.
