Position Summary:

The Food Regulatory Compliance and Product Development Specialist is responsible for ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements regarding packaging, labeling, and nutritional data. This role supports the product development process, oversees cost management and pricing strategies, and collaborates across various departments to ensure successful product introductions.

Key Duties:

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Verify that all packaging complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate labeling, ingredient declarations, and nutritional information.
  • Confirm adherence to USDA regulations and guidelines.

Product Development:

  • Collaborate with suppliers to gather necessary product specifications, documentation, and certifications.
  • Monitor pricing, availability, and quality of raw materials.
  • Request and manage samples for new product initiatives.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to guarantee timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Test and compile verified cooking instructions for new product items.

Cost Management and Pricing:

  • Calculate costs associated with new products, taking into account yields, ingredient expenses, and production costs.
  • Analyze yield impacts on overall product pricing.
  • Work with the team to refine recipes for cost efficiency and quality.

Cross-Department Collaboration:

  • Engage closely with sales, marketing, production, and quality assurance teams.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication to ensure seamless product launches.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process enhancements in regulatory compliance and product development.
  • Implement best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance and product development within the food sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of USDA regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience in cost management and pricing.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with compliance software.

Working Environment:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Occasional travel to supplier locations may be necessary.
