Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at the State of Ohio. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medication and monitor patient medication compliance
  • Perform treatments and assist with nurse's sick call
  • Assist with doctor's sick call and perform or assist with nursing management of chronic care clinics
  • Respond to emergencies and provide emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Perform subjective and objective assessment of patients and collect vital signs
  • Collect urine and/or other bodily fluid specimens and prepare patients for release or transfer
  • Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services
  • Participate in work-related training and institution training exercises
  • Provide assistance to other healthcare staff and investigate and document problem areas or areas of concern
  • Review shift report from preceding shift(s) and assist physicians with medical procedures
  • Assume duties of other nurses during absences and counsel/provide education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and provide training and work direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and/or hospital aides
  • Serve as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding healthcare matters and provide orientation and training for new healthcare personnel
  • Serve as the lead clinical authority on site in the absence of the HCA, QIC, medical director and/or advanced level provider staff and participate in group programming
  • Participate in health and wellness initiatives and perform administrative duties as indicated
  • Attend meetings and schedule multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Assume the duties of shift charge as assigned by the HCA and make shift work assignments and adjustments as necessary
  • Perform or assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies and assist ancillary staff as needed to ensure patient care needs are met
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio as issued by the Board of Nursing per Section of Ohio Revised Code
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide high-quality patient care
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and protocols
  • Ability to provide education and training to patients and staff
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
