Division Overview

Crown's Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees, and teas, as well as new energy drinks. We lead the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans.

Our aluminum cans offer a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes, and decorating options, making them the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts.

Location

Crown is expanding its operations to Mesquite, NV, with a new 355,000 square foot facility expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2023. This state-of-the-art facility will manufacture specialty beverage cans for top consumer product companies.

Position Overview

The Electrical Engineer works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw materials to finished products, and supports daily production activities.

This is a managerial position, which includes the daily supervision of plant electricians and electronic technicians, as well as the management of plant construction, modifications, appropriations, and equipment installation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery, electrical control equipment, and circuitry in an industrial plant setting.
  2. Oversees assembly and testing of experimental motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles.
  3. Diagnoses the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective action.
  4. Develops diagrams, drawings, and specifications for modifications or expansions and directs personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
  5. Plans, directs, and records periodic testing; recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment as needed.
  6. Directs, coordinates, develops, trains, coaches, and assesses employees.
  7. Supports and encourages employees to work safely, efficiently, and effectively.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Approximately 10% overnight travel.
  • Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support.
  • Knowledge of control systems and sub-systems.
  • Knowledge of building facilities (compressed air, water, hydraulics, vacuums, heating, and cooling).
  • Facility power distribution to include voltage up to 4160v, three-phase.
  • Instrumentation and calibration knowledge.
  • Process control systems – set-up and program applications (Honeywell).
  • Ability to design, modify, and plot using AutoCAD software.
  • Installation, set-up, and programming of PLC's (Allen-Bradley).
  • Working knowledge of motor controls, VFD's, DC drives, Eddy Current Systems, and/or Modicon system design.
  • At least three years of proven supervisory experience.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience plus an Associate's degree.
Preferred Requirements
  • Green or black belt certification in Six Sigma.
  • Electrical Journeyman's certification.
  • Packaging industry experience.

  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills as well as the ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated employee relations skills and the ability to motivate people.
  • Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.
  • Must be able to look at new solutions and 'think outside the box'.

  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
Physical Requirements
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
