Job Title: Open Records Deputy Manager

GeorgiaGov is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Open Records Deputy Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Legal Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of open records requests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist and support the Attorney Manager in handling a high volume of open records requests.
  • Provide expert analysis and working knowledge of the Georgia Open Records Act.
  • Oversee and assist with locating, gathering, and tracking of requested records from statewide divisions and units.
  • Undertake and support training of Unit employees.
  • Perform daily checks of subordinate work for managing the number and complexity of requests.
  • Oversee administrative supervision, including review of employee attendance and leave requests.
  • Conduct accurate legal analysis to ensure Unit redaction of protected information.
  • Respond to and provide effective problem-solving practices for difficult requests and requestors.
  • Serve as a resource for complaints of internal and external customers concerning open records issues.
  • Assist in fostering and maintaining a respectful and inclusive team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with state government structure and operations.
  • Management of employees.
  • More than one year of experience in one or more areas: legal, administrative, or government agency work.

For this role, we are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience managing professional-level staff, or six years of related professional experience and two years of managing professional-level staff. An equivalent combination of education and job-specific experience may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
