Deputy Sheriff Colonel

Fulton County is seeking a highly qualified Deputy Sheriff Colonel to oversee the daily operation of the County jail and ensure the safety, security, and welfare of inmates during incarceration.

• Supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff
• Develop and oversee employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control
• Ensure departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
• Oversee enforcement of all applicable codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations
• Assist with preparation of long-range and short-term management plan for the jail
• Develop and administer budget; prepares budget requests and projected capital expenditure requests

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Corrections Management, Social Science, or a related field
• 10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in jail operations, administration, and standards, quality improvement practices, and compliance
• Three (3) years of experience as a chief jailer or an equivalent position in a similarly sized correctional system
• State of Georgia certification as a correctional officer or jailer (must be obtained within six (6) months of employment)
• Must possess and maintain Peace Officer Standard and Training certification
