Activity Director

The Director of Activities at DeRidder Retirement & Rehabilitation is responsible for ensuring a high-quality program of activities that meets the needs of our residents. This position provides assistance to other departments as needed and available.
Responsibilities- Resident Engagement: Restore self-confidence, community reintegration, resocialization skills, improve physical condition, and provide leisure education for residents.
- Activity Planning: Develop a plan for each resident designed for restoration of the quality of life experienced prior to admission.
- Assessment and Documentation: Complete a Resident Activity Assessment on all residents within seven days of admission and maintain accurate documentation.
- Communication and Collaboration: Participate in resident care plan conferences, communicate with department heads, and ensure full implementation and understanding of the activity program.
- Volunteer Management: Coordinate and supervise the activity volunteer program, recruit, train, and orient volunteers.
- Financial Management: Plan and coordinate the use of activity funds within the budget and maintain accurate records.
- Transportation and Adaptation: Transport residents on community outings and adapt activities to meet resident capabilities.
- Confidentiality and Compliance: Maintain confidentiality, adhere to established policies on confidentiality, and be aware of Federal and State regulations regarding activity programming.
- Education: Preferred high school or equivalent education.
- Experience: Preferred two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one of which was full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting.
- Skills: Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, ability to work flexible hours, and willingness to adapt to changing situations.
The Director of Activities requires a full range of body motion, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, handling, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, pivoting, turning, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
