Job Overview
Cleans and maintains the cleanliness of resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Responsibilities include dusting furniture and equipment, cleaning windowsills and baseboards, emptying waste receptacles, and organizing furniture in a neat manner. Performs various related tasks to ensure a hygienic environment for residents.

Education Requirements
Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions is essential.

Qualifications
1. Previous experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
2. On-the-job training will be provided under supervision.
3. Familiarity with cleaning tools such as brooms, mops, and buffers is beneficial.
4. A willingness to learn, cooperate, and work under guidance is necessary.
5. Must be available to work scheduled hours, including weekends and holidays.
6. Completion of a pre-employment and annual Tuberculosis screening is required.

Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out cleaning duties under the direction of the Director of Nurses, Administrator, Charge Nurse, and Housekeeping Supervisor.
2. Maintain the facility in a clean and sanitary condition to promote the health and well-being of residents.
3. Show a genuine interest in working with elderly individuals.
4. Be prepared to perform routine and repetitive tasks consistently, even amidst interruptions.
5. Execute tasks with consideration for residents in the vicinity.
6. Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in keeping assigned areas orderly.
7. Work under close supervision while performing standardized tasks.
8. Complete additional tasks as assigned.
9. Attend mandatory staff training, meetings, and educational activities as required.
10. Uphold the Patient's Bill of Rights and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
11. Interact with residents, family members, and staff in a supportive and calm manner, ensuring a positive environment.

Cleaning Duties
1. Dust furniture with a damp or polishing cloth daily and organize furniture.
2. Dust light fixtures, windowsills, baseboards, and clean door vents.
3. Empty and clean ashtrays and wastebaskets.
4. Perform dry and wet mopping of floors in resident rooms as assigned.
5. Clean wash basins, toilets, polish chrome fixtures, wash mirrors, and spot clean walls.
6. Clean window blinds and thoroughly clean beds and bedside tables in resident rooms.
7. Maintain cleanliness of the housekeeping cart and any equipment used.
8. Ensure all rooms are cleaned weekly.
9. Assist with emergency cleaning as needed.
10. Mop, wax, and buff hallways, living areas, and dining spaces as assigned.

Supplies and Equipment Management
1. Use supplies and equipment efficiently.
2. Dispense supplies based on necessity.
3. Ensure proper care, storage, and usage of supplies and equipment.
4. Report any supply or equipment needs or issues to the Administrator or Charge Nurse.
5. Prepare resident rooms for new admissions.
6. Assist in moving residents within the facility.

Facility Oversight
1. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure cleanliness and order.
2. Identify maintenance needs and report them to the maintenance department or Administrator/Charge Nurse.

Physical Demands
This position requires a full range of body motion, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, turning, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and effective communication skills.
