Activity Director

The Director of Activities at DeRidder Retirement & Rehabilitation is responsible for designing and implementing a high-quality program of activities that meets the diverse needs and interests of our residents. This role requires a strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a seamless delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of residents to identify their needs and interests, and develop personalized activity plans to meet those needs.
- Develop and implement a range of activities and programs that promote socialization, recreation, and leisure education, including one-on-one programming for residents who are bed-bound or have limited mobility.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that activity programs are integrated into the overall care plan for each resident.
- Supervise and evaluate the work of activity personnel, and provide training and support as needed.
- Manage the activity budget and ensure that all expenses are accurately recorded and reported.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and vendors to ensure that residents have access to a wide range of activities and services.
- Ensure that all activity programs and services are delivered in a safe and respectful manner, and that residents' rights are protected at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience in a social or recreational program preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Physical stamina to perform duties that require standing, walking, and lifting.
