Key Responsibilities:

The primary objective of the Senior Financial Analyst is to provide strategic insights, analysis, and guidance to Plant Managers within a designated Business Segment regarding business performance, with a focus on optimizing operating income and cash flow generation. This role involves:

  • Conducting analyses of incurred and projected operational costs, capital investment decisions, and oversight of working capital.
  • Leading the monthly accounting close process and financial reporting, including variance analysis and financial planning.
  • Delivering timely and precise information, developing key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to effectively manage business operations.
  • Applying cost accounting principles to perform studies that yield detailed cost insights not available through general accounting systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls, including SOX control protocols, inventory observations, and reconciliations.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly forecasts, comparing actual performance against operational plans and standards, and recommending necessary adjustments.
  • Generate reports summarizing and forecasting business activities and financial positions based on historical, current, and anticipated operations.
  • Analyze and explain variances from budgets, forecasts, and other benchmarks.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of budgets, including necessary documentation and justification.
  • Support project managers with essential information for managing and forecasting capital projects.
  • Coordinate transactions within Enterprise and Fixed Asset Systems for capital expenditure requisitions, closures, capitalization, depreciation, and asset retirement.
  • Provide management with timely updates on the organization's financial status and progress across various programs and activities.
  • Translate financial knowledge into operational understanding to support site personnel in improving processes.
  • Assist the Controller in analyzing key business strategies and projects, providing recommendations based on expected outcomes.
  • Lead the internal control program and collaborate with auditors on audit-related matters.
  • Prepare closing work papers, journal entries, and cost statements during the closing cycle.
  • Monitor production inventory costing and levels.
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Enhance efficiency and accuracy in reporting by modifying, creating, and automating processes.
  • Support administrative departments as an expert in the E1 system.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; an MBA and/or CPA qualification is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of six years of experience in public accounting as an auditor or in a finance/accounting role.
  • Experience in cost accounting, preferably within an industrial manufacturing context.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting ERP software, specifically JD Edwards.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Business Intelligence tools, such as Microsoft Power BI.
