Job SummaryThe Clinical Technician provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse and performs other tasks necessary for unit operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Delivers patient care, assists with patient activities, and reinforces patient education.
- Manages multiple patient care assignments based on unit acuity and staffing levels.
- Receives report from primary care partner and completes assignments in a timely and organized manner.
- Provides adjunct care, including administering enemas, surgical preps, ice packs, and heat treatments.
- Collects, labels, and delivers urine, blood, sputum, and stool specimens to the lab.
- Assists with patient repositioning, monitors food and water intake and output, and applies simple dressings.
- Accurately performs glucometer finger stick and POCT.
- Assists with patient transport and acts as a patient sitter or telemetry monitor technician as needed.
Minimum of High School diploma or GED required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Must satisfy one of the following:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current State of Florida licensure.
- RN Student with completed nursing fundamentals or caring scholar course and active enrollment in an RN Nursing program.
- Graduate of an RN program with pending authorization to test for the NCLEX or has not passed their first NCLEX and is awaiting second test.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with current valid Florida Licensure and work experience required.
Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
