Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Outreach Specialist to join our team at The Merc Co+op. As an Outreach Specialist, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining relationships within the community, including mutually supportive partnerships with local businesses, non-profits, schools, and individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships within the community, including local businesses, non-profits, schools, and individuals.
  • Plan events, in-store and off-site, including sampling and basic cooking demonstrations.
  • Facilitate cooking classes and commissary kitchen use with new, existing, and diverse partners.
  • Support growth and development of owner engagement and benefits programs.
  • Review and coordinate giving through the co-op's local donations program.
  • Write articles and features as it pertains to job description for web and print.
  • Fielding comments and inquiries from website (marketing, board, owners, general).
Requirements
  • Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
  • Availability of 40+ hours/week.
  • Flexibility of schedule to adapt and respond to the needs of the department.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Effective organization and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to follow through on commitments, prioritize and reprioritize as necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
  • Must have the ability to read written and interpret verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information and make requests verbally or in writing.
  • Must be able to solve practical problems and work towards solutions.
  • Must be able to perform simple addition and subtraction, as well as counting and recording.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • The ideal candidate has experience in outreach, marketing, or education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure.
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office Suite and digital communication.
