The Opportunity

As an Electrical Project Engineer at WestRock, you will play a critical role in coordinating the planning, organization, and completion of capital projects. You will provide technical assistance to operating departments to help achieve the mill's goals and objectives while driving continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of capital projects from inception through final project completion.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Coordinate design activities, including equipment sizing, P&IDs, piping, structural, electrical, and process control.
  • Review detailed engineering drawings developed by vendors and engineering consultants.
  • Ensure project design and implementation adhere to mill safety and environmental policies.
  • Conduct project design review meetings.
  • Manage the direction of consultants, contractors, and maintenance work associated with assigned capital and repair projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise construction and startup activities with project teams, Maintenance, and Operations.
  • Control project costs by monitoring expenditures to ensure projects are completed within budget and schedule.
  • Provide accurate capital and expense cash flow forecasts.
  • Assure all project drawings, documents, equipment information, manuals, etc. become part of the Engineering Document Control System.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of experience in an electrical engineering role in industrial manufacturing, with Pulp & Paper experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving and process-analysis skills to evaluate data and make decisions to drive process improvements.
  • Proven track record of leadership and collaboration within cross-functional teams.
  • Project management experience, PMP Certification a plus but not required.
  • Drafting and CAD (AutoCAD) training/experience a plus.
