Job Summary

The City of Shelton, WA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician III to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our wastewater treatment plant, ensuring the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater for our community.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, and control systems
  • Conduct laboratory tests and analyze results to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance checks and services on plant equipment and control mechanisms
  • Assist in the development and implementation of plant process changes based on laboratory-testing results
  • Collaborate with other department staff to ensure effective communication and coordination of plant operations
  • Participate in training and professional development to stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to follow Washington State Motor Vehicle Laws
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Certification Group III
  • First Aid/CPR Card and Flagger's Card
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and work in a fast-paced environment
