Position Overview:

Role Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to assess individual risks for acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions. This involves developing, analyzing, and evaluating information related to complex technical risks. You will be accountable for marketing, managing, and underwriting a new and renewal Credit and Political Risk portfolio, engaging directly with select agencies or brokers. Your efforts will drive profitability and premium growth to meet financial targets through the development, negotiation, and execution of strategic business plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for achieving revenue goals within a designated territory.
  • Monitor market dynamics and relationship factors essential for securing accounts.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of complex accounts, utilizing experience and business acumen to make strategic decisions.
  • Evaluate the quality of underwritten risks, ensuring all relevant variables are considered, including financial statements and credit reports.
  • Meet production, profitability, and service objectives while coordinating with team members on new business and renewals.
  • Within authorized limits, make decisions on new business of a complex nature to ensure profitability.
  • Price business in accordance with company underwriting and pricing guidelines, considering account size and complexity.
  • Leverage customer relationships and conduct broker visits to develop new accounts and enhance existing relationships.
  • Utilize underwriting and research tools to assess risk acceptability, applying sound judgment in accordance with company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and all regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain operational excellence through timely issuance of non-binding indications and policy documentation, coordinating effectively with back-office operations.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Sr Director, Credit and Political Risk - E&S and Specialty or VP, Credit and Political Risk – E&S and Specialty.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA or Master’s degree in finance, international affairs, or business administration is preferred.

Experience:

  • 10-12 years of experience in credit and political risk underwriting.
  • 5-10 years of experience developing tailored policy wordings for credit and political risk transactions.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in financial statement analysis, credit underwriting, and country analysis.
  • Strong relationships with the US broker community and corporate clients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior underwriting credit authority is advantageous.
  • Formal credit training is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of IT solutions.

Other criteria, including leadership skills and relevant experiences, may take precedence.
