Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumber to join our team at Illinois State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing skilled work in the trade of Plumber, including maintenance of drainage, waste, vent, potable water supply and fixtures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled work in the trade of Plumber, including maintenance of drainage, waste, vent, potable water supply and fixtures.
  • Work at heights or depths of at least 30 feet or more.
  • Must be able to work underground, in ceilings and in confined spaces and be able to maneuver and carry equipment to those locations.
  • Must be able to speak clearly.
  • Visual acuity to differentiate between color-coded piping.
  • Ability to bend, crouch, kneel and reach overhead.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a recognized plumber apprenticeship program or five (5) years (60 months) of full-time journey-level plumber experience.
  • Possession of current State of Illinois Plumber's License.
  • Valid State of Illinois driver's license.
  • A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge sufficient in techniques and uses of tools.
  • Capable of planning work based on status of request.
  • Experience in maintenance of drainage, waste, vent, potable water supply and fixtures, etc.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a variety of environments, including but not limited to, heated and protected areas, and may be exposed to heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $49.35/hour. Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University's supplemental retirement savings plans (403b).
