Engages directly with Hospitalists in all facets of patient management, encompassing diagnosis, treatment, and consultations as part of a collaborative physician/nurse team for inpatient care. Functions as an educator, case manager, and consultant to staff and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.Key Position Details:
Job Description:
Principal Responsibilities- Delivers clinical care for patients during their hospital stay.
- Conducts thorough patient evaluations.
- Establishes diagnosis and treatment plans for illnesses.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, therapies, and medical equipment as necessary.
- Provides patient education for chronic illness management and wellness care.
- Refers patients for specialized care when appropriate.
- Consults with physicians when patient needs exceed the Physician Assistant's scope of practice or when diagnosis or treatment plans are ambiguous.
- Encourages communication within the team and with other interdisciplinary healthcare staff.
- Collaborates with the primary care team for program development.
- Acts as a liaison with external agencies as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supportive and collaborative environment with the Hospitalist team.
- Utilizes Excellian, our EMR, a comprehensive software solution from Epic.
- Both Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners are considered.
- Casual position with day/evening coverage.
- Master's degree and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant from NCCPA or as a Nurse Practitioner through ANCC.
- Possession of an active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Ability to secure and maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Meets criteria for Credentialing and hospital privileges.
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 certification required within 180 days.
- Preferred: One year of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
Medium Work: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently, in accordance with Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy.
