The role involves collaborating closely with Hospitalists to manage all facets of patient care, including diagnosis, treatment plans, and consultations as part of a dedicated physician/nurse team focused on inpatient care. This position also serves as an educator, case manager, and consultant to both staff and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.Key Responsibilities:
Primary Duties- Deliver comprehensive clinical care to hospitalized patients.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations.
- Establish diagnoses and treatment strategies for various health conditions.
- Order and interpret medical diagnostics in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Prescribe necessary medications, therapies, and medical equipment.
- Provide patient education aimed at managing chronic conditions and promoting wellness.
- Refer patients to specialty care as required.
- Consult with physicians when patient needs exceed the Physician Assistant's scope of practice or when the diagnosis or treatment plan is ambiguous.
- Facilitate effective communication within the healthcare team and with other interdisciplinary staff.
- Collaborate with the primary care team for program development initiatives.
- Act as a liaison with external agencies as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Work in a collaborative and supportive atmosphere with the Hospitalist team.
- Utilize Excellian, our EMR system, recognized as one of the most comprehensive in the nation.
- Open to both Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
- Flexible position with day/evening coverage.
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant from NCCPA or as a Nurse Practitioner through ANCC.
- Possession of an active, unrestricted medical license in MN (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Ability to secure and maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Meet the criteria for Credentialing and hospital privileges.
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 certification required within 180 days.
- Preferred: One year of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
Medium Work: Lifting weights up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently, in accordance with Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy.
