POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Industrial Refrigeration Technician is accountable for accurately recording time and materials in a computerized maintenance management system on a daily basis through work orders and preventive maintenance tasks. This role involves consistent communication of critical information regarding system functionality and upkeep to management and maintenance teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in refrigeration machine rooms and maintenance areas on a daily basis.
  • Interpret and comprehend technical plans, specifications, schematics, and operating manuals for the systems under supervision.
  • Collaborate with management to establish standard operating procedures, daily work schedules, and maintenance cycles for refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Assist in overseeing external mechanical and refrigeration contractors engaged in service, repair, and new projects.
  • Support the maintenance teams responsible for building and material handling equipment.
  • Participate in general building repairs, electrical troubleshooting, and various maintenance tasks.
  • Adapt to working in environments with temperatures of 35 degrees or lower for the duration of the shift. Capable of lifting 40-60 pounds to shoulder height repeatedly.
  • Stand and walk on concrete surfaces for the entire shift. Follow both verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Possess basic mathematical skills and computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand product specification sheets, evaluate equipment, and exhibit fundamental mechanical knowledge. Work independently and display leadership qualities.
  • Commit to obtaining OSHA Level A Hazmat Certification and Incident Command Training within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Willingness to achieve RETA (CIRO) Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator Certification within one year of hire to qualify for Refrigeration Technician level III classification. Familiarity with USDA regulations and plant sanitation standards is advantageous.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in an industrial setting, including refrigeration, ammonia, electrical, and HVAC systems. An Associate Degree in Refrigeration, Ammonia, HVAC, or Electrical is preferred. Certifications in RETA, CARO, and FCF are also preferred, or a combination of relevant work experience, education, and training.
