Position Overview

Recreational Activities Coordinator - Senior Living / Memory Care

We are in search of a dedicated Activities Coordinator to enhance our team. The activities division plays a vital role in the comprehensive health care framework by providing treatment, education, and tailored recreational activities. These efforts are crucial for improving and sustaining physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being, preventing additional health issues, and promoting independent living skills and overall life satisfaction.

Our senior living community offers a distinctive combination of assisted living, Alzheimer’s and memory support care, and respite services, all designed to provide seniors with a retirement lifestyle that merges comfort and security, ensuring assistance is readily available when necessary.

Qualifications

  • A genuine enthusiasm for engaging with the elderly, particularly those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
  • Strong organizational skills, creativity, and a positive attitude, with the ability to lead assistants and volunteers effectively.
  • Capability to communicate compassionately and effectively with senior residents.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations as they arise.
  • An energetic personality with the creativity and passion required to work with this demographic.
  • Exceptional communication (both verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills are essential.
  • Outstanding customer service abilities, characterized by a friendly demeanor and a calm approach, are necessary for building relationships with older adults.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently, with strong multitasking and attention to detail.
  • Dependability, responsibility, and punctuality are crucial attributes.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor are required.
  • Must successfully pass a level 2 background check, drug screening, and Tuberculosis testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate directly with residents in the assisted living and memory support units under the guidance of the activities director.
  • Support the activities director in planning and executing therapeutic activities for individuals and groups.
  • Engage with volunteers to assist in activities as directed by the Activities Director.
  • Provide assistance to residents in dining areas as needed, including during meal times.
  • Participate in scheduled off-site outings.
  • Implement the monthly activity calendar as posted.
  • Gather materials and conduct activities tailored to the specific needs of individual residents.

Work Schedule

Variable hours, including the possibility of weekend and holiday shifts as required.
