Position Overview:
The Coordinator of Sports Programs will deliver administrative oversight to the Intramural Sports and Sport Club initiatives at NIRSA Leaders in Co.

This role entails direct management of approximately 50 supervisors and 7 program assistants, alongside seasonal recruitment of officials, which may range from 20 to 50 individuals based on the sport.

Additionally, the coordinator is expected to act in an advisory role to the Sport Club Council, composed of 10 student representatives elected by the sport club community, responsible for the financial allocation and management of $350,000 in student government funding.

Evening and weekend supervisory and training hours will be part of the responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and certify attendance and leave of graduate assistants, program assistants, supervisors, and officials.

- Oversee daily program operations, which include:

managing marketing strategies, supervising student staff, conducting participant disciplinary hearings, ensuring compliance with club administration, developing programs and events, scheduling and staffing intramural and club activities, assisting with athletic training programs, and managing equipment inventories.

- Provide guidance to the Sport Club Council (SCC) and Student Officials Associations (SOA).

The SCC is responsible for reviewing and allocating interim and annual budgets for all recognized clubs, while the SOA enhances the officiating skills of current student officials through participation in extramural events and community engagement.

Both entities serve as advisory boards, offering feedback on various issues affecting sport clubs and student official employment.

This position will support the SCC and SOA in creating events and initiatives tailored to their respective audiences.

Establish collaborative relationships with other campus departments to implement comprehensive policies and procedures that enhance program operations, including but not limited to: Office of Greek Life, Office of Residence Life, Student Government, A&S Business Office, SG Travel Office, Student Rights and Responsibilities, SMART Institute, and Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement.

- Assist in strategic planning and assessment, including the establishment of learning outcomes for student participants and employees within the program area.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required, along with a minimum of one year of experience in a student affairs or personnel role. A Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or Sports Recreation Administration is preferred.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
Four years of directly relevant experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree. Six years of directly relevant experience may substitute for a master's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree in Higher Education, Recreation, Physical Education, Student Affairs, or a related field, along with two years of professional experience in a collegiate recreation setting, particularly in Intramural Sports program areas, is preferred. Work experience cannot substitute for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
