Position Overview

This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, specimens, and medications within the healthcare facility.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with rotating shifts, primarily during the evening hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and promptly transport patients throughout the facility, assisting with transfers as necessary.
  • Recognize signs of patient distress during transport and seek immediate assistance when needed.
  • Monitor medical equipment such as oxygen and IVs, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate any delays to the supervisor or dispatcher within a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment, ensuring all items are returned to their designated locations.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and verify patient identification prior to transport.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, demonstrating safe lifting and transport techniques.
  • Practice universal precautions and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and complete required training in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited organization.
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients and staff.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in patient transport or a similar role.
