Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Construction Materials Testing Specialist II, you will engage in essential construction oversight, conducting field and laboratory assessments of various materials. Your responsibilities will include the preparation and transportation of samples, along with generating reports, while performing non-technical duties and administrative tasks under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors.

All technicians are required to be physically fit to handle the tasks outlined, which may involve lifting weights ranging from 10 to 60 lbs and moving materials weighing up to 200 lbs using a wheelbarrow, cart, or dolly. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sampling or perform fundamental tests on soils, concrete, asphalt, and other materials in both field and laboratory settings as instructed.
  • Safely transport representative samples to the laboratory for analysis and testing.
  • Ensure all material samples are uniquely identified and maintain this identification throughout the testing process.
  • Assist field and laboratory personnel as required to fulfill tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain a tidy work environment and ensure your equipment is in good condition.
  • Support other technicians or professional staff as necessary.
  • Commit to retaining knowledge and skills shared with you to foster your professional growth within our organization.
  • Uphold our quality assurance policies and procedures, ensuring the integrity of your work and the reputation of Tolunay-Wong Engineers, Inc. is maintained at all times.
  • Follow safety protocols and actively participate in safety audits and near-miss reporting to enhance workplace safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months relevant experience.
  • Ability to lift between 10 – 60 lbs and work outdoors for extended durations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Capability to pass drug screening, background checks, and fit-for-duty assessments.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant certifications such as ACI, NICET, TXDOT, or others as required.
