Position Overview

Introduction

ABC and LOL Child Care Center and Preschool is on the lookout for a dedicated and passionate full-time Certified Preschool Educator. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute weekly educational plans and age-appropriate curricula that promote holistic development in children.
  • Create a safe, clean, and engaging classroom atmosphere that showcases the children’s learning journey.
  • Communicate effectively with children in a manner that is easily comprehensible.
  • Conduct regular developmental assessments of children, craft lesson plans, and implement curricula tailored to each child's unique needs.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance the classroom environment to accommodate the evolving needs of the children.
  • Show respect and dignity to all children, ensuring they feel secure while providing learning opportunities through play and social interactions.
  • Adapt routines and plans responsively to meet the interests and needs of the group.
  • Promote the full inclusion of children with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents and caregivers.
  • Facilitate two parent-teacher conferences annually to strengthen family-teacher relationships.
  • Keep accurate and timely records for clients and the agency, including daily meal and attendance logs.
  • Report any signs of suspected abuse or neglect to the program director and appropriate authorities.
  • Ensure the assistant teacher is informed about all classroom and program matters, including lesson plans and policies.
  • Promptly communicate any staffing or classroom concerns to the program director.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping.
  • Climbing stairs as needed.
  • Mobility to ensure children's safety.
  • Engagement with children on the floor.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Perform light cleaning duties.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Possession of a Birth through Preschool or Birth through 3rd Grade Vermont Teaching License.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services, or a related field, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in child development and early childhood education.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team while maintaining confidentiality and flexibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Capability to navigate the complexities of a large preschool program.
  • Quick and efficient decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with parents, children, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid certification within three months of employment.
  • Reliable transportation to fulfill job responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a licensed preschool educator in a center-based or school-based setting.
