The Senior Grants Accountant is a pivotal member of our finance team, responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting associated with grants. The Senior Grants Accountant will collaborate closely with the accounting manager, program directors, and external partners to ensure adherence to grant stipulations and financial regulations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local grant regulations.
  • Stay informed on grant guidelines, including federal Uniform Guidance.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to grant managers and the accounting team.
  • Assist program staff in developing grant proposals, offering financial insights and budget forecasts.
  • Oversee fiscal compliance for subcontractors and sub-recipients, conducting thorough reviews and analyses.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reports to stakeholders, meeting all grant-specific requirements.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements related to grants.

Grant Management and Accounting Functions:

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive database for grant financial documentation.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payable related to grants to ensure efficient cash flow.
  • Support program directors in tracking grant budgets and fulfilling financial reporting needs.
  • Conduct general accounting tasks specific to grants, including journal entries and expense allocations.
  • Process reimbursement requests from subrecipients and manage subaward tracking.
  • Prepare detailed billings and financial reports for grants, ensuring compliance with grantor requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation for annual audits, providing necessary analyses and documentation.
  • Engage in financial analysis and review as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Represent BEF professionally in all communications.
  • Participate in additional projects as directed by the Accounting Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector is essential.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience with various grants.
  • Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, particularly in nonprofit revenue recognition.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience in a high-volume accounting environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite and related budgeting tools is advantageous.
