Kleinschmidt Group is seeking a full-time Senior Engineer/Project Manager to engage in engineering design and oversee projects related to dams, hydroelectric systems, fish passage solutions, and water resource management. This role emphasizes building client relationships and mentoring junior personnel.

Location: Flexible hybrid work environment.

Compensation: Salary range of $100,000-$175,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a Licensed Professional Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of experience in civil, structural, geotechnical, or mechanical engineering, specifically in the context of hydroelectric, fish passage, dam safety, or water resource projects. A minimum of 3 years in project management and client coordination is essential.

Expertise:
Proficient understanding of relevant standards and codes in your engineering discipline. Experience in analysis and design, as well as collaboration with various engineering disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineering, is required. Field experience with clients, contractors, and vendors during project planning and execution is vital. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are necessary for effective project and client management. Familiarity with regulatory processes is advantageous, and consulting experience is preferred.

Project Management Skills:
Demonstrated experience in leading project teams comprising junior and senior staff, drafters, and project coordinators. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is crucial. Experience in overseeing multidisciplinary projects and teams is required. Sound decision-making skills with a client-focused approach are essential. Knowledge of project management software is a plus.

Relationship Building:
A passion for mentoring junior staff and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while applying engineering skills from analysis to construction is important. The ability to cultivate enduring client relationships to address complex engineering challenges is a key aspect of this role.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States and ability to obtain work authorization in Canada.
  • Willingness to travel and possess a valid driver's license.
Position Overview:
This role offers the chance to contribute to a team focused on the design and management of hydroelectric, water resource, and fisheries projects, integrating skills from all engineering disciplines along with regulatory and scientific services. Client relationship management and business development are integral to this position. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale multidisciplinary projects, enhancing the client experience, and managing expectations for both internal and external teams. Your primary focus will be on regional projects and clients, ensuring superior project delivery.

During site visits, employees may encounter darkness, confined spaces, and outdoor weather conditions. They may also need to climb ladders and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, and kneeling.
