Position Title: Plant Operator

Position Overview: The Plant Operator will play a crucial role in assisting the Plant Manager with the preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance of HVAC systems. This position requires a focus on safety, efficiency, and professionalism while performing daily assessments of systems and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily logging of chillers and perform water treatment tests, interpreting results and making necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure that the central plant and HVAC areas are kept clean and safe at all times.
  • Control biological activity in cooling towers to maintain cleanliness.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance and respond to emergency repairs as required.
  • Test and log emergency generators, performing minor maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments safely to maintain and repair various equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA regulations.
  • Understand the fundamentals of central plant operations, including chillers, water pumps, piping, cooling towers, and air handling systems.
  • Operate the energy management system effectively.
  • Read and interpret electric and water meters, as well as blueprints.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified air conditioning program is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, pumps, and air handlers.
  • Possession of EPA Universal Certification.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to produce quality work in a timely and safe manner.
  • Commitment to safety and health regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and respect for colleagues, vendors, and clients.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
