Job Title: Plant Operator

Job Summary: The Plant Operator will assist the Plant Manager in maintaining HVAC systems, ensuring all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include routine assessments of systems, maintaining a clean workspace, and performing additional tasks as directed by the Plant Manager while adhering to all safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily logging of chillers and perform water treatment assessments, making necessary adjustments based on findings.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety in the central plant and HVAC areas at all times.
  • Control biological activity in cooling towers to maintain operational standards.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance and respond to emergency repair needs as they arise.
  • Test and log emergency generators, performing minor maintenance tasks as required.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments safely to maintain and repair equipment.
  • Adhere to safety practices and utilize protective gear as mandated by OSHA regulations.
  • Understand the fundamentals of central plant operations, including chillers, pumps, piping, cooling towers, and air handling systems.
  • Operate the energy management system and interpret electric and water meter readings.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints related to HVAC systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification from an accredited HVAC program is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in commercial HVAC systems, including chillers and cooling towers.
  • Possession of EPA Universal Certification.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in a timely and safe manner.
  • Commitment to safety and health regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and respect for colleagues, vendors, and clients.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
