Position Title: Plant Operator

Position Overview: The Plant Operator will assist the Plant Manager in the proactive, corrective, and routine maintenance of HVAC systems. The role requires a commitment to safety and efficiency while performing daily evaluations of systems, maintaining a tidy work environment, and undertaking additional responsibilities as directed by the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily logging of chillers and perform water treatment assessments, interpreting results and making necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety in the central plant and HVAC department at all times.
  • Control biological activity in cooling towers to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance and respond to emergency repairs as required.
  • Test and document emergency generator performance, performing minor maintenance as needed.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments safely to maintain and repair various equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA regulations.
  • Understand the fundamentals of central plant operations, including chillers, pumps, piping, cooling towers, and air handling systems.
  • Operate the energy management system effectively.
  • Read and interpret electric and water meters, as well as blueprints.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified air conditioning program is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, pumps, and cooling towers.
  • Possession of EPA Universal Certification.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work efficiently and safely.
  • Commitment to safety and health regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and respect for colleagues, vendors, and clients.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
