Role Summary

The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating advanced imaging equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images as per the directives of the ER Physician, adhering to established protocols set by the Radiologist. This role requires expertise in patient positioning and equipment setup to ensure optimal imaging results.

The specialist will also implement radiation safety measures following the ALARA principle, utilizing beam restriction devices and patient shielding techniques to protect both patients and staff from unnecessary exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay informed about departmental policies and operational procedures.
  • Assist in the upkeep of imaging equipment, including routine cleaning and quality assurance checks.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding the benefits and risks associated with imaging procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, including contrast administration and IV placements.
  • Facilitate departmental workflows by completing necessary documentation related to exams.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Possess a foundational understanding of anatomy and physiology to ensure accurate imaging.
  • Demonstrate basic troubleshooting skills for imaging equipment.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics when assisting patients and handling equipment.
  • Recognize personal limitations and seek assistance when necessary.
  • Ensure safe transportation of patients within the facility.
  • Participate in quality control procedures and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
  • Uphold professional standards and appearance at all times.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in radiologic imaging, with a focus on CT.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • State licensure and BCLS certification as required.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand, sit, and perform manual tasks frequently. Candidates must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds and possess the visual acuity necessary for detailed work.

Work Environment

The role is set in a dynamic healthcare environment with moderate noise levels, requiring adaptability and effective communication skills.
