Job Overview: The role of the Radiologic Technologist involves conducting radiographic examinations and utilizing x-ray apparatus to generate images of the human body for the purpose of diagnosing and treating medical conditions, while prioritizing patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Execute radiographic techniques to capture images of internal organs and skeletal structures.
- Communicate procedures to patients, gather and document relevant medical histories, select suitable equipment settings, and position patients effectively for optimal imaging outcomes.
- Assess image quality and submit for interpretation while maintaining necessary patient records.
- Ensure a well-stocked supply of materials and maintain a hygienic work environment; report any equipment issues to the supervisor.
- Take responsibility for patient safety and provide both physical and emotional support to patients.
- Adhere to safety protocols concerning workplace safety, environmental regulations, exposure control, and infection prevention.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license is required by the date of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) is required within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, and imaging principles. Proficiency in operating imaging equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal abilities. Capacity to follow radiation safety protocols and to ease patient concerns.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:This position requires frequent exposure to challenging physical conditions, including high noise levels and temperature variations, as well as handling potentially hazardous equipment. The role involves constant exposure to biohazardous situations, such as radiation risks and bloodborne pathogens, necessitating strict adherence to safety protocols. Physical demands include frequent lifting of heavy objects, bending, and mobility tasks.
