Position Summary
The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for operating imaging equipment to generate diagnostic radiographs as per the directives of the attending physician, adhering to established protocols. This role requires expertise in patient positioning and equipment setup to achieve optimal imaging results.
The specialist will also be adept in applying radiation safety measures, following the ALARA principle, and utilizing protective devices to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.
In addition, the role involves operating CT SCAN equipment to perform Computed Tomography scans, administering contrast materials, and monitoring for potential reactions. Accurate documentation in patient records is essential to maintain compliance and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to departmental policies and operational guidelines.
- Assist in the upkeep of imaging equipment, including routine cleaning and quality assurance.
- Educate patients about the benefits and risks associated with imaging procedures.
- Prepare patients for examinations, including necessary contrast administration and IV placements.
- Facilitate operational processes by completing required documentation related to imaging procedures.
- Implement safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure.
- Stay informed about current diagnostic imaging practices and technologies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to imaging.
- Provide minor troubleshooting for imaging equipment.
- Utilize proper body mechanics to ensure safe patient handling.
- Communicate effectively with team members and patients.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and manage orders as needed.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect for all patients and staff.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- A minimum of one year of experience in radiologic imaging and CT.
- Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Valid state licensure and current BCLS certification.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand, sit, and move frequently, with the capability to lift and transport patients and equipment as necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
