Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting radiologic examinations and utilizing x-ray technology to generate diagnostic images of the human body. This role emphasizes the importance of patient care and safety throughout the imaging process.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required certifications include a valid Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license upon hiring. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory within a specified timeframe after employment. Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) must be achieved within a designated period post-hire.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficient understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and the principles of radiation physics and safety. Competence in operating imaging equipment is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to interact effectively with patients. Adherence to radiation safety protocols and the capability to ease patient concerns are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct radiographic examinations to capture images of internal organs and skeletal structures.

- Clearly explain procedures to patients, gather relevant medical histories, select appropriate imaging settings, and position patients for optimal results.

- Review images for quality assurance and maintain accurate patient records.

- Ensure the work area is stocked with necessary supplies and kept clean; report any equipment issues to the supervisor.

- Prioritize patient safety and provide both physical and emotional support to patients.

- Comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and infection control measures.
