Key Responsibilities

The Technology Resilience (TR) Specialist II position is both dynamic and pivotal, influencing daily program activities and processes with a vision for sustained Technology Resilience and Recovery at Mayo Clinic. The TR Specialist II is instrumental in overseeing daily TR program operations at Mayo Clinic, concentrating on technology resilience, compliance, and enhancing recovery strategies. This role entails thorough analysis of IT processes related to IT continuity and recovery, assessing key data for risk evaluation, identifying trends and control challenges, and contributing to the ongoing monitoring of Mayo's IT landscape to ensure our commitment to exceptional patient care amidst potential threats or disruptions.

The TR Specialist II actively engages with various business stakeholders, risk management teams, information security experts, and senior IT leadership. They are expected to be a thought leader, collaborating with top resilience professionals to shape the future and achieve results that ensure the continuous delivery of IT services for Mayo Clinic employees and patients throughout the organization.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of our technology resilience and provide updates to senior leadership regarding both the program and our recovery capabilities.
  • Proactively communicate with senior management about the requirements and potential risks associated with current technological resilience, advocating for necessary resources.
  • Oversee the intricate elements of the program, including its processes, governance, and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with the TR Systems Architect II to synchronize testing and recovery operations.
  • Consistently provide guidance to ensure alignment of the programmatic roadmap with Mayo's strategic priorities and establish processes for successful execution and continuous improvement.

Independent Work

  • Accountable for achieving outcomes and objectives set by senior leadership.
  • Oversee and lead staff members while managing projects that require significant coordination within and across various organizational departments.
  • Develop proposals that assess options and potential business benefits for thorough evaluation by the institution.
  • Effectively collaborate with diverse groups across different organizational departments to reach consensus among stakeholders.
  • May participate in institutional committees and/or workgroups, providing consultative expertise in their area of specialization.

The TR Specialist II takes on a leadership role to direct and coordinate the work of other staff members. They assign tasks considering workload distribution, skill sets, technical knowledge, and task criticality. They serve as a consultant or mentor in various technical areas of expertise to staff throughout the Department of Information Technology (IT). They lead technical planning for areas supported by the work unit as part of annual division planning and actively participate in or facilitate technical workgroups necessary to advance project objectives. They lead committees to establish technical standards, promote data integration, and coordinate projects across work units. They are responsible for the timely completion of tasks and projects, demonstrating a commitment to meeting deadlines and priorities. They provide leadership in the technical design, system architecture, and application of information systems resources to meet system requirements. They engage in significant technical decisions, develop proposals that consider alternatives and business cases, secure necessary institutional approvals, and work effectively across departmental organizations to gain stakeholder consensus. They are recognized as technical experts beyond their division and are sought after for their extensive knowledge. They are also knowledgeable about a wide range of current technologies and understand how they fit into Mayo's environment. Participation in industry committees or organizations may also be required.

Technical Reviews and Collaboration

The TR Specialist II facilitates technical reviews within the institution to ensure appropriate technical architecture and design, applying concepts of enterprise architecture to ensure systems align and integrate within the Mayo Information Technology enterprise environment. They work independently on all projects and assignments, escalating issues based on the scope of authority, and consistently produce reliable results that meet objectives. Availability for 24/7 on-call support may be required. They routinely interface with colleagues who may be located at various Mayo Group practices to fulfill job responsibilities that necessitate virtual collaboration and partnership.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience, including 5 years of demonstrated technical expertise and 3 years of leadership experience, OR an Associate's Degree with 10 years of experience, including 5 years of demonstrated technical expertise and 3 years of leadership experience.

Demonstrated ability to navigate among different work areas and a consistent track record of project and deliverable reliability. Exhibits initiative and self-motivation to complete tasks and assignments punctually. Proven project management skills. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication, organization, problem-solving, and facilitation. Evidence of mastery-level expertise in multiple technologies. Proven ability to resolve complex technical issues across various technologies. Experience in healthcare technology is preferred. Familiarity with managing both custom-developed and vendor-supplied applications is advantageous. A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in IT and cyber resilience, disaster recovery, or business continuity. CBCP and/or CCRP certification is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated logistics expertise, exceptional process management, and critical thinking abilities, with a knack for innovation and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Authorization to work and remain in the United States without the need for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now or in the future is required (e.g., U.S. Citizen, national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). Additionally, Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
