The Teacher I is responsible for designing and executing an early childhood education program tailored for preschool-aged children, adhering to the policies and procedures established by the agency. This role emphasizes fostering school readiness, engaging parents, and ensuring the well-being and safety of the children entrusted to our care. Under the guidance of the Center Coordinator or Teacher III, the Teacher I will ensure that program operations align with the goals and intended outcomes of the agency. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor, which may include evening and weekend work, travel, and occasional overnight assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively supports the implementation of the High Scope curriculum, utilizing agency resources and insights from subject matter experts.
  • Ensures that all classroom activities are developmentally suitable and contribute meaningfully to children's educational experiences.
  • Monitors and organizes classroom activities using data from COR Advantage, ensuring timely and thorough ongoing assessments of child development.

General Expectations:

  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Interprets and applies agency policies and procedures accurately.
  • Practices sound child development techniques, staying informed about current research in the field.
  • Communicates effectively in both verbal and written forms.

Educational Requirements:

Applicants must be at least 21 years old. A Child Development Associates certificate or equivalent is required (may be obtained within the first year of employment). A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood is necessary for Teacher II and III positions. DOE 081 Certification (either provisional or permanent) is required for collaboration with public schools for Teacher III roles.
