Job Overview:

A Credit Union Collector is responsible for contacting credit union members with past due loan or credit card accounts, attempting to collect the outstanding balance by negotiating repayment plans and ensuring compliance with all state and federal collection laws.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of delinquency reasons, negotiation skills, and the ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities:
  • Contacting Delinquent Members: Reach out to members with overdue accounts via phone, mail, or other communication channels to discuss their payment status.
  • Investigating Delinquency Reasons: Determine the cause of late payments by speaking with members and reviewing account details.
  • Negotiating Repayment Plans: Work with members to create feasible payment arrangements that fit their financial situation.
  • Updating Account Information: Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, including contact attempts, payment arrangements, and member interactions.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to all federal and state collection laws, including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) guidelines.
  • Escalating Accounts: Refer accounts to legal counsel or collection agencies when necessary.

Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 per year
