Role Overview:

As a Solutions Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the technical success of our partnerships with enterprise clients. Reporting to the Solutions Engineering Manager, you will collaborate closely with sales teams to comprehend customer needs, design effective solutions, and guarantee the successful deployment of Alluxio's offerings. This position demands a unique combination of technical acumen, customer engagement skills, and the capability to navigate intricate data environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Sales Leadership: Oversee the technical sales process for multiple clients, guiding them from initial discussions through proof of concept to finalization.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Partner with the Solutions Engineering Manager and internal teams to implement pilot projects and proofs of concept with clients and prospects.
  • Hands-On Engagement: Drive and manage PoC processes in diverse technology settings, influencing decisions on new technology solutions.
  • Custom Solution Design: Analyze customer requirements and craft tailored solutions that leverage Alluxio's capabilities to fulfill their specific needs.
  • Client Education: Facilitate training sessions and workshops to inform clients about Alluxio's value proposition and best practices for utilizing our products.
  • Pre-Sales Technical Support: Collaborate with sales teams to deliver technical insights during the pre-sales phase, including product demonstrations and presentations.
  • Feedback Integration: Collect customer feedback and work with product management and engineering teams to enhance product offerings and drive innovation.
  • Industry Expertise: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies to effectively position Alluxio's solutions.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation of best practices and lessons learned to establish a scalable Solutions Engineering framework.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a solutions engineer, actively supporting all stages of the technical sales cycle.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Linux, networking, and storage systems is essential.
  • Practical experience with distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark, Presto, HDP, and CDH.
  • Familiarity with orchestration frameworks like Mesos and Kubernetes.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of troubleshooting complex issues in distributed systems.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with a talent for conveying intricate technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Understanding of modern sales methodologies and a customer-focused approach to solution design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced degrees are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Java and Python is preferred.
  • Experience in data pipelining and analytics is a plus.

The compensation for this full-time position in the United States ranges from $160,000 to $220,000 OTE, subject to standard withholding and applicable taxes. Candidates will also receive equity (stock options) and access to a comprehensive benefits package. The specific compensation will be determined based on factors such as work location, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
